Karol Kittelson

Karol was born in Beresford, South Dakota and moved with his family at the age of six to Sioux Falls after the death of his father. After graduating from Washington High School in 1956, he attended Augustana College and the U.S. Air Force Academy.  He received his Bachelors Degree in Business and Mathematics from Northern State Teachers College in 1963 and an MBA from the University of South Dakota in 1964.

Fifteen years of corporate financial management positions followed with US Steel and IBM in Chicago, Fingerhut Corporation in Minneapolis and culminated in Yankton, SD as Controller and Treasurer of Gurney Seed & Nursery.  In April of 1979 Karol made a career change to  Financial Advisor.  He is retired and is enjoying traveling, gardening, swimming and other fitness activities with his wife Joan, a retired registered nurse.  They have been married 48 years and have two married children (Eric in the Twin Cities and Jennifer in North Carolina) and four grandchildren.

Karol’s community involvement includes being Past President of the following: Yankton Community Concert Association, Yankton Tennis Association, Yankton Library Board and Yankton Friends of the Library. He is past Chairman of the Trinity Lutheran Church Board of Deacons and sang in the Adult Choir. For several years, Karol taught Adult Education courses in Personal Investing. 

A Rotarian in the Yankton Rotary club since 1978, Karol has held all the elected club offices.  For the past twenty years, he has been the Club Secretary/Treasurer. On the District level, Karol assisted the District Governor as his PolioPlus representative to several clubs during the first PolioPlus campaign.  Karol also served ten years on the District Scholarship sub-committee with three years as Chairman.
